Music Director & Conductor Search

Beginning in summer of 2023, the Music Director and Conductor will guide our orchestra of volunteer musicians, comprised of professionals with day jobs, students, teachers, as well as retired musicians from all walks of life, in providing high-quality interesting and challenging classical music to the community.  Responsibilities include:

  • Developing  programming for the orchestra’s four concerts per season, sometimes with more than one performance of the same concert, including theme and works to be performed.
  • Selecting guest artists and soloists, including youth soloists, if possible.
  • Conducting rehearsals and concerts.
  • Participation in orchestra board meetings as needed.
  • Becoming a member of West Valley College’s faculty, as the orchestra is part of the college’s continuing education program, and collaboration as appropriate with music department faculty.

Finalists will be asked to rehearse and conduct one concert in Spring 2023. A Master’s degree in conducting and/or music performance or higher is required, and extensive conducting experience preferred.  Interested candidates should submit resumes and requests for additional information by September 24, 2022 via email to: info@winchesterorchestra.com .
