Sarah Nadeau, Mezzo-Soprano

Mezzo soprano Sarah Nadreau grew up in a remote town in the Pacific Northwest and has sung in jazz ensembles and choirs since she was very young. She originally planned to focus on performance in musical theatre, but jokes that “opera chose [her]”. She was introduced to opera during her undergraduate studies at Whitworth University in Washington state and has been singing classical repertoire ever since.

Sarah  has performed solo roles in the United States, Canada, and Italy, and holds a special place in her heart for operatic pants roles as well as comedic roles in musical theatre. Her favorite performances include Hänsel from Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, L’Enfant from Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, and Drowsy from Lambert and Morrison’s musical The Drowsy Chaperone. When not in music rehearsals, she can often be found teaching one of her many students, reading, hiking, or spending time with her nieces and nephews. She has a deep love for psychology, dance, history, and travel, and hopes to one day visit the pyramids of Egypt.

Sarah graduated with her masters degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2018 under the vocal instruction of Susanne Mentzer and has been a member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus since 2020.
